Today's Adventures:
Best day I've had in a long time, which is odd considering how it started off.
It's 9:00am and I'm tossing and turning in bed, toying with the idea of getting up and going to the bathroom, but resisting with all my might because it's the last day of my long weekend. Through the haze I hear Kate talking on the phone, I block it and flop over.
*knock*
me: "murfle?"
*knock, knock*
me: "inaminute"
So I drag my ass to the door, open it and blink owlishly at Kate, who's wrapped in a towel, and starts speaking rapid fire as Marissa opens her door from the other side of the hall with an expression comically like the one I feel sure I was sporting.
Kate: Hey, I just wanted to let you know where I'm going, I called the clinic and they're not taking walk-ins today, they haven't been for two weeks and the lady on the phone was really bitchy and said that they were taking them tomorrow but that I probably wouldn't get in. I called my dad and told him, and I'm going to another clinic on Ridgeway street across town, I probably won't be back for hours because its the day after a long weekend and I really want to rush and get there right when it opens at 10 so I'm calling a cab in like 10 minutes and then I'm leaving, ok?
me: k?
So she goes into her room, I boot up my laptop and lurch to the bathroom. I return to to an IM saying something along the lines of:
"I know you probably don't want to go but I would really appreciate the company"
wide awake now: "but aren't you leaving in like, 6 minutes?"
to which she says "Well, I still have to go to the bank machine for money to pay the cab, so you've got a little longer then that"
ever the stoic, I reply: "Alright, you go, I'll be ready"
at this point Kate's practically doing a victory dance: "You're FUCKING AWESOME, I love you!"
me: "I know."
So we go, its gorgeous outside, I think vaguely about asking the cabbie to crack open a window but we get there before I screw up the courage. We wait in the waiting room for 30 minutes, Kate gets seen, and we're out of the before an hour has passed. It being so gorgeous outside, I suggest saving on cab fare and walking part of the way home, maybe see a shop or something and enjoy the weather. We end up finding the Victoriaville Mall, which is this ghetto mall somewhat like the Guelph Eaton centre in the after-Eaton period but before the Guelph-centre period.
We wander awhile, find a ghetto dollar store, which we wander around successfully: Kate bought a charm for her bracelet and some hair pins, and I bought a portfolio for my Education assignment as well as, joy of joys, the first Jurassic Park video on VHS for a grand total of 2.00$ So we wander some more, find an awesome flapper dress, eat at the fanciest Robin’s we’ve ever seen ad head out to the few stores around the mall.
Mainly we went to Shoppers and sniffed some shampoo (Liz, remember when we would go to Shoppers on our lunch breaks in high-school and sniff the guys cologne and decide what our boyfriends would smell like?) and then a teeny grocery store called the “Quality Market” where I bought a high-quality half a dozen eggs and some yogurt.
Afterwards we headed home, only had to pay half of the now smaller cab-fare because the guy’s meter was broken and I got my very well deserved shower. Then I played with my computer, (aka read webcomics and checked email) gave Jim a call and made cannelloni and garlic bread for the gang which we ate while watching Jurassic Park.
Can’t beat that, now can you? The only fly in the ointment is that I have to go to class tomorrow.
Boo.
